GREG SUMMERFIELD

Lead Pastor

I was born and raised right here in Louisville, Ohio. I attended church for years as a kid, but as I grew into my teenage years I began feeling God's call on my life to surrender to full time ministry. In the fall of 2002 I moved to Springfield, MO to attend Baptist Bible College. My wife Sarah and I got married after our freshman year of college in 2003.

In December of 2007 we moved back to Louisville, where I was a full-time Youth Pastor for 4 years. After some great years of youth ministry, God gave me the desire to pursue leading a local church. We moved back to BBC, this time with our 2 children, where I finished my Bachelor's Degree with a Pastoral Major.

In December of 2013 I accepted the Lead Pastor position here at First Baptist Church of Louisville. Having the opportunity to move back to my hometown of Louisville and have the privilege of sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ with this city is a great blessing!

OUR DEACONS

The New Testament uses three primary words that refer to deacons: diakonos, which means "servant"; diakonia, which means "service"; and diakoneõ, which means "to serve." The original use of this group of words might have been specific, meaning the service of waiting on tables or serving people food. But it broadened beyond that and came to mean any kind of service. While all believers are to be characterized by service, some have been specially gifted by the Spirit of God to serve (cf. Romans 12:7). Only in 1 Timothy 3 is there a specific discussion of the office of deacon (vv. 8– 10, 12).

Deacons are equally qualified with elders in terms of character and spiritual life. The one difference between their qualifications is that an elder must be able to teach, but the deacon doesn't have to be.

SARAH SUMMERFIELD

Secretary

Having grown up as a pastor's kid and later in life as a missionary kid I was blessed to be able to experience the excitement of being involved in church and full time ministry at an early age. I accepted Christ as my Savior as a young child, but it wasn't until my teen years when I really began to grow in my relationship with Christ. After pursuing several different career options, I finally surrendered to God's call for my own life to be in full time ministry and attended Baptist Bible College in 2002. I finished with my Bachelor degree in Biblical Studies and Elementary Education.

Greg and I met and dated in high school and were married after our freshman year of college. In 2007 we were blessed with our first full-time ministry position working with youth. We learned so much during those years about ministry and ourselves and really fell in love with people and seeing them grow in their relationship with Christ. God blessed our family during those years as well with our two children, Lincoln and Liberty. After following God's lead, we were privileged to become a part of First Baptist and are so excited to be a part of such a loving, passionate and driven group of people who's desire is to reach their neighbors and world for Christ.

KIDS MINISTRIES TEACHERS

Each week our team of qualified kids leaders teach our K-5th grade students in meaningful and in depth bible study during the Sunday morning worship service time.

Our FirstKids join us at 10am in the main worship service for a time of family worship before being dismissed to their own bible teaching class.

The FirstKids leadership has a passion to teach and see the next generation grow in their knowledge and relationship with Christ in truth and strive to raise up the authority of scripture to the next generation.
